McGrath Family Farm - Farm History
One of the most rewarding and satisfying aspects of farming is getting to know the people who eat the wonderful food we grow. From the very beginning, the heart of our operation focused on developing a Community Supported Agriculture Program (CSA). Click Here to sign up for CSA.

McGrath Family Farms CSA Program for 2010

CSA ContractCSA ScheduleAnother year is ending and another year is beginning. With the rise of organic farming and farmer markets, Community Supported Agriculture was just natural to be next. This is truly the best way to support local agriculture. This will be our third year and we are very excited about some positive changes we are making. Trying to stay true to the meaning of a CSA, and meeting the demands of a free market system is a balance. In our second year we tried to make the program more affordable by splitting it into 3 seasons while still offering the annual program at a reduced rate.

We also became more aware of "family friendly foods," and adjusted some of our planting schedules. This year we found the biggest request for our CSA program was more fruit. California grows over 2/3 of the nations food and no where in the world is there this kind of diversity. With that in mind, we havedecided to share our CSA box with other farmers to offer more diversity, especially with fruit. Our conditions with other farmers will be first that they are growers, second that they are certified organic, and third that they are from California. The idea is to except seasonal organic fruit, (and more), in your box. Our hopes are to acquire the highest quality seasonal product, as local as possible, from small growers with the same sustainable principles as ours. These farmers will be highlighted in our monthly newsletters and I'm sure you will recognize some of them. Be ready. Next years box will be better than ever and thank you so much for being part of our farm.
Sincerely, Phil McGrath
